Henry James
Died 1717
Henry James was educated at Eton and was admitted to Magdalene College, Cambridge, but migrated to Queens' a year later, in 1661. He graduated MA, BD and DD, and was elected a Fellow of Queens' in 1664 and President of the College in 1675.
He was ordained deacon at Peterborough in 1667 and priest the following year; he was incorporated at Oxford in 1671 and the same year became Rector of St Botolph, Cambridge. He was Chaplain to the King. He was Rector of Somersham in Huntingdonshire, and Prebendary of York (from 1687) and Canterbury (from 1705) until his death.
He was University Taxor 1673-4, and Vice-Chancellor in 1683-4, and again in 1696-9. He held the post of Regius Professor of Divinity from 1699 until his death. He paid £20 towards the repair of the Chapel in 1707.
